Getting started

There are really only three basic steps for the IntellMatcher system.

This page will try to go into every last detail of the steps you will need to complete in order to have a successful and profitable fundraising event.

 

PLACE YOUR ORDER ONLINE

Submit your order request online.  We'll need to know several things, such as the number of students in the school and the adult leader's name and contact information.  See the online order form for more information.

 

START IN-SCHOOL ADVERTISING FOR QUESTIONNAIRE-WEEK

Get everyone excited about the upcoming questionnaire week.  Let everyone know that even if they don't want to buy a result sheet, they should still answer the questionnaire so that they could appear on other student's result sheets.  Remind everyone that they do not need any money now and they are not required to buy a result sheet even if they do fill out the questionnaire.  Hang signs all around school!  Get everyone excited about Questionnaire Day!

 

CHOOSE YOUR QUESTIONS

Get together in a group and decide on the number of questions and which questions you want to have on your questionnaire.  Remember, you can even change some of the standard questions (except the required 16 if you are having a standard date & friend matchmaker; friend-only and basic date & friend matchmakers have no required questions) or make up your own complete new questions.  Remember that it takes an average of 2 minutes for a student to answer every 10 questions.  Therefore you should try to have homeroom extended a few extra minutes (10 minutes is usually plenty) that day so students will have time to finish the entire questionnaire.  You could even have the students take the questionnaires home and return them the next day.  Or have them complete them throughout the day and return them at the end of the day.  However, you will find that you will get the best results if you require them to fill it out at a predetermined time period so they don't get lost or forgotten.

After you choose your questions online, you can immediately print your master questionnaire and answer sheet containing only those questions you have chosen and your custom message.

DECIDE WHAT SECTIONS TO REMOVE FROM THE RESULTS SHEET (if any)

Decide which sections you wish to remove from the results sheet.  For example, you may not want to include the “most compatible faculty member” sections.  These selections can all be made in the Online Management System.

 

PREPARING FOR QUESTIONNAIRE DAY

Make enough copies of the questionnaire and answer sheet for every student and faculty member in your school.  Make a package containing enough questionnaires and answer sheets for each homeroom class.  Include a brief instruction sheet with each package explaining to the homeroom teacher how the fundraiser works.  You can also remind them to tell students that there is no obligation to buy anything.  Let the homeroom teachers help you sell your fundraiser!

 

QUESTIONNAIRE DAY!

Have homeroom extended if needed (10 minutes should be plenty). Distribute the questionnaires and answer sheets to each homeroom.  Inform homeroom teachers not to collect any money from the students at this time.  Remember, the idea is to try to get everyone to complete the questionnaire even if they aren’t considering buying the results sheet.  You’ll find out that usually they’ll change their mind later.  Also, have the homeroom teachers remind the students that there is no possibility of them showing up on anyone else’s result sheet if they don’t complete the questionnaire.  Remind the faculty to complete the questionnaire as well so that they can be (at least) matched with other faculty members - more potential profit (they always like to support their school).

 

Optional: Ask the homeroom teachers to do a “quick scan” of the answer sheets to filter out any bogus sheets.  Even though we use very sophisticated filtering to remove profanities from the names (a typical joke some students do so that vulgarities will appear on other student’s results sheets as person’s names), we cannot verify when someone (also as a joke) fills out an answer sheet for another person using their opposite sex (so that person ends up getting all same sex names as dates and well as appearing on everyone else’s list as the opposite sex).

PROCESSING

If you are not performing your own data entry, then mail all of the answer sheets to SNJ Enterprises.  Enclose a copy of your questionnaire.  Mail them to:

 

       

 

We process school runs in the order that they are received, unless you have made prior scheduling arrangements with SNJ.  When processing is completed, we will mail the result sheets back to you.  Note that if you have decided to take advantage of the $ .05 discount by printing your own result sheets, you can receive the results back immediately after processing via e-mail.

 

PREPARING FOR SELL-WEEK

Get everyone excited about the upcoming sell-week.  Let everyone know that the result sheets are coming and how much they will cost.  This gives students time to collect the necessary funds (usually from parents) to make your fundraising event successful.  Hang signs all around school!  Get everyone excited about sell-week!

 

SELL-WEEK!

You have one whole week to sell the result sheets. Make them available before homeroom, at lunch, after school or anytime the students can get to your selling station(s).  You can sell the sheets for any amount you wish.  Since there is only one two-page result sheet containing all of the matches per student, most schools sell our single two-page sheet for about $2.00 to $5.00  Other companies have several sheets requiring students to pay several dollars per sheet.

 

If you need more than one week for selling, why not try the semi-prepay option.  See the Discounts page for more information.  You could end up making 100% more money on the remaining unsold result sheets and take as long as you wish to sell them!

 

AFTER SELL-WEEK

After sell-week, count how many sheets you didn’t sell and enter that number in the appropriate place on the online invoice.  You don’t pay for the sheets you didn’t sell and you don’t need to return them to us; recycle them!  Follow the directions on the online invoice to determine the amount due to SNJ Enterprises.  Take into account any discounts that you may have been chosen.  Enclose a check payable to SNJ Enterprises with a copy of the completed invoice and mail the payment to SNJ Enterprises. 

 

Please note: You are obligated to destroy any unsold result sheets after sell-week (unless you have chosen the semi-prepay option).  Selling result sheets after sell-week or after payment has been sent to us is illegal and not very nice either.

SEE YOU NEXT TIME

Let us know how you event ran.  If there was anything we could have done to make it smoother or better, we'll do it next time.  Also remember that if you refer another school or class to SNJ, you receive an additional discount on your next run!  You'll really be bringing in the $$ then!
